LIVE EARTH FARM CSA

There are temporary changes to our Pick-up Protocol:
We are using plastic liner bags – click here for a video.
Do still unfold the box (see line 7 below) – click here for a video.
You do not need to check your name off when you pick up. It really does help when your name is checked off, yet leaving the box unfolded at the site is another way to tell your share was picked up.

Please, continue reading since the policies below still apply to all CSA Subscriptions.

AS A MEMBER, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR READING AND UNDERSTANDING OUR PICK-UP PROTOCOL.  IT IS MEANT TO PROVIDE THE BEST EXPERIENCE FOR ALL COMMUNITY MEMBERS, AND IS PART OF WHAT YOU AGREED TO BY ACCEPTING OUR TERMS AND CONDITONS.

OUR PICK-UP LOCATIONS ARE ON THE HONOR SYSTEM, NO ONE IS THERE TO HELP YOU, SO FOLLOWING PROTOCOL IS IMPORTANT TO THE SUCCESS OF OUR CSA PROGRAM.  THANK YOU!!

1) PLEASE, GIVE WHOEVER IS PICKING UP YOUR SHARE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
Our Pick-up Protocol is also summarized inside a BINDER at each pick-up site. Let whoever is picking up know this. If our Pick-up Protocol is not followed mistakes are made, and members who pick up afterward could be shorted items meant for them.

ALSO, give whoever is picking up your Share the location address and hours!  Only the general area of a location is published on the website, not the actual address! Log in to your online account to get the actual address and directions (click on the Pick-up Directions tab).

2) REMEMBER TO PICK-UP YOUR SHARE!
It is your responsibility to remember to pick up your share on the correct day during the listed pick-up hours. If you forget, we do not refund, replace, or give credit for your missed share. If you miss picking up your share during the listed hours, your site host is authorized to donate your items to either an organization or family-in-need they know about (so the food does not go to waste).

3) FIND YOUR NAME ON THE CHECKLIST IN THE SITE BINDER
There is a BINDER at each site with a CHECKLIST of everyone who picks up and what they are subscribed to.  PLEASE CHECK OFF YOUR NAME WHEN YOU PICK-UP.

4) TAKE THE CONTENTS OF THE SHARE WITH YOUR NAME ON IT
SHARES ARE LABELED WITH THE NAME OF THE MEMBER TO WHOM IT BELONGS, as well as any cartons of eggs and loaves of bread which are located outside or packed inside the box.

BULK PRODUCE ORDERS MAY BE SEPARATE FROM THE SHARES.   DO NOT TAKE ITEMS THAT ARE NOT LABELLED WITH YOUR NAME.  YOU WILL BE SHORTING THE MEMBER THE ITEM IS MEANT FOR.

5) IF YOUR NAME IS NOT ON THE LIST AND THERE IS NO BOX WITH YOUR NAME ON IT, DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING
Contact us by email or phone – farmers@cruzio.com or 831.763.2448 – and we will find out what happened and work things out.  We only drop off the shares for the people on the Checklist. If you take something and you’re not on the list, you’re taking someone else’s share.

6) IF YOUR NAME IS ON THE LIST BUT THERE IS NO SHARE FOR YOU, DO NOT LEAVE EMPTY-HANDED IF POSSIBLE
Missing Shares usually happen when someone makes a mistake and takes the incorrect box.  If you can figure out which box is leftover, you are welcome to take the contents so you have at least some veggies then email to let us know so we can remedy any inequities if necessary.

7) TAKE ONLY THE CONTENTS OF THE BOX, NOT THE BOX ITSELF
After removing the contents of the box, including the paper liners, CAREFULLY UNFOLD YOUR BOX and stack it neatly with the other boxes (click here for a video on how to unfold the box). We pick them up the following week and re-use them (see What We Reuse below).

8) CONTACT US PROMPTLY IF YOU HAVE BEEN SHORTED SOMETHING
Email or call us right away. We will make it up to you within the next couple of deliveries, usually with a credit toward a share. Notes left on the checklist are not usually seen, SO TO RECEIVE CREDIT OR REPLACEMENT, YOU NEED TO EMAIL OR CALL (farmers@cruzio.com or 831.763.2448).

9) PLEASE, BE RESPECTFUL AND BE NEAT

RESPECT THE PICK-UP LOCATION – Treat the site how you would want it to be treated if it were at YOUR home.  Unfold and stack your box with the others (see item 7, above).  Don’t eat fruit and throw stems or pits on the ground. Take the paper liners with you and recycle/reuse at home.

RESPECT YOUR SITE HOST – Pick-up on the correct day during the listed hours.  Do not disturb hosts by coming by late at night or early the next morning. Many of our Pick-up Locations are at members’ private homes and, unless you have express permission from them, we ask you to respect the times (Pick-up Hours) they have allowed for members to access their property.

COURTESY COUNTS – please, courtesy for fellow members and for a site host’s property (and their neighbors!) is paramount. You are participating in a community, and how you behave and what you do directly impacts other members.  Chronic offenders will be asked to leave our membership.

BE SAFE – there are other members, their children, and other traffic around our pick-up locations.  Watch for them please.

EXTRA FRUIT ITEMS, EGGS, and BREAD

EXTRA FRUIT ITEMS:  Although the CHECKLIST may list the Extra Fruit Option by your name, items that are part of the Option are included in the pre-selected contents of Shares and are inside the box.

EGGS:  Eggs will be listed on the box packing list and most likely be inside the box labeled with the name of the member they belong to.

THE BREAD:  The labeled loaves will usually be inside the box, yet there are exceptions at some locations due to critter issues so the loaves may be in a separate, closable box, crate or cooler somewhere at those pick-up sites. The round loaves are in brown paper bags, and are labeled with the names of the members to whom they belong.

WHAT WE RE-USE

1)  We reuse the Share Boxes.  Please unfold and leave the empty box in a stack at the Site.  If you need to borrow a box, please return it the next time you pick-up.

2)  We reuse the boxes called “flats”, and any others that bulk amounts are delivered in. If you borrow any of these boxes, please return them the next time you pick-up.

DUE TO FOOD SAFETY REASONS WE DO NOT REUSE ANY OTHER PACKAGING MATERIALS – please reuse/recycle the paper liners, berry containers, egg cartons, jars, etc. at home.

Thank you for participating in our Community and supporting our Farm!
